Parker Players Theater Company

Marcela has worked on multiple Parker Players productions as a part of their the Artistic Team. Starting as backstage crew, she has worked her way up to being the Production Stage Manager on past shows, and hopefully future shows to come!

As a Production Stage Manager, she plays a key role in:

  • Facilitating effective communication between the director, designers, and actors during all stages of the production process.

  • Managing all rehearsals and production meetings by creating and maintaining organizational resources to track every stage of the production, including: rehearsal schedules, staff contact sheets, preliminary script analysis, line and blocking notes, prop and costume tracks, run crew spreadsheets, etc.

  • Overseeing all backstage operations during a run, calling cues for lights, sound, and scene shifts (with up to 130+ cues), covering the lighting/sound board when necessary (QLab software), etc.

  • Ensuring a smooth production run (including pre/post) while ensuring safety, professionalism, and consistency.

Universal Studios Hollywood

Working as a Costume Lead and Dresser, both in daily park operations and in multiple high-profile events, Marcela feels privileged to have worked at one of the largest, most profitable entertainment hubs in the world.

As a Dresser for both daily operations and as apart of the Super Nintendo World Opening Team, Marcela:

  • Distributed and assembled costumes, aided in costume changes, and performed emergency repairs at 9+ venue sites.

  • Checked costumes and dry cleaning in/out via inventory software (InvoTech Systems), and followed venue-specific SOP guidelines.

As a Costumes Lead for both the Halloween Horror Nights and Grinchmas events, Marcela:

  • Supervised a rotational team of 40+ dressers, oversaw their training, and initiated one-on-one coaching for improvements.

  • Managed and scheduled rotational deployment of dressers to 7+ venues based on preferences and coverage needs.

  • Responsible for all dresser duties, but at a larger scale with up to 1,000+ costume pieces being checked in/out every day.

  • Managed and improved analog tracking systems, was responsible for locating and remediating lost items, reported if pieces needed extensive repair or re-ordering, and ensured up to 300+ actors were following strict character IP every set.

  • Identified the needs of each dresser and venue, found creative ways to solve production problems, collaborated with Costumer and other Supervisors to improve operations, and assisted in coordinating load in/out of the events.

  • Daily administrative duties: sent emails, managed heavy calls, created/maintained schedule rotations, guest services, etc.
